In response to this reality, three African-American women decided to invest their energies and resources by working for positive change throughout Philadelphia and forming Enhancing Lives Through Action—the idea being that “through action” they could gradually improve the conditions in Philadelphia’s communities. ELTA believes that in order to create a stronger community, people MUST begin to invest time and, more importantly, financial resources to develop that community.

Therefore, ELTA envisions a community where people will have full access to the information, knowledge and resources to become better-informed citizens and eventually improve their overall economic situation. Given ELTA’s solid commitment to meeting this goal, its founders will offer a wide range of social services and programs that meet the educational, economic, social and medical needs of community residents.
